I am a journalist and an expert on Germany, and I am occasionally asked to share my views on current events in Germany and to discuss them on radio and television programs. I was born in 1979 in Greifswald, in what was then the GDR. From the age of 5, I grew up in East Berlin, among the Plattenbauten of Berlin-Marzahn. I was 10 years old when the Wall fell in 1989, and I remember it clearly. I work as an editor at NOS Binnenland / Radio 1 Journaal. In 2024 I produced a podcast titled “Over de Muur.”

Brigitte.de Blog: Life in Frogland

I live in a country whose residents also refer to their homeland as “Little Frogland.” I haven’t yet figured out where the Dutch got this name, but when it comes to the characteristics “small, green, and loud-mouthed,” I do notice quite a few parallels.
