Brigitte.de Blog: Life in Frogland

I live in a country whose residents also refer to their homeland as “Little Frogland.” I haven’t yet figured out where the Dutch got this name, but when it comes to the characteristics “small, green, and loud-mouthed,” I do notice quite a few parallels.

Berlijn heeft een nieuwe radiozender…

…en dat is op zich misschien niet echt erg nieuw of bijzonder, maar toch ook weer wel. Omdat de vernieuwde radio op dit moment in Berlijn gemaakt wordt; weg van de supercommerciëlen die dag in dag uit, minuut in minuut uit dezelfde titels spelen (“heb ik die titel een uur geleden niet ook al gehoord?”; “Die SUPERHITS 80er, 90er und von heute“).

Documentaire “Een Duits Geheim. De WK finale van 1974”

Duitsland won in 1974 de WK finale van het onverslaanbare geachte Nederland. Als jongetje van veertien was Bart Nijpels die zomer getuige van de nederlaag in een café in de Zeeuwse duinen omringd door uitzinnige Duitsers supporters. Het jochie radeloos en ontroostbaar. Dertig jaar later aan de vooravond van het EK in Portugal en mogelijk een nieuwe confrontatie met de Oosterburen, gaan we op zoek naar het geheim van 1974. We praten met de Duitse spelers van ‘damals’ zoals Gerd Müller, Berti Vogts en Gunther Netzer. In de kleedkamer van het Olympisch stadion in München onthult Paul Breitner wat die middag in juli 1974 de doorslag gaf.
