I'm going to be the boss

I’ve had time to let it sink in. I’m used to the idea. I’m slowly getting used to it.

Starting January 1, I’ll be the editor-in-chief.

That means a lot of things:

I’ve started what will likely be my last two weeks as a reporter. (For now, my new job runs from January through September, so I’m not putting the camera away in the attic just yet.)

I’ll be working full-time again. (For two years, I’ve enjoyed “24 Hours in Utrecht”; now Fridays will no longer be my day off.)

I’ll get to impose my opinions on my (until now like-minded) colleagues. (Fortunately, they already know I have my own opinions. But now they’ll be hearing them every single day.)

I get to experience the other side of the coin. (Making decisions, reviewing reports, collaborating with anchors and the rest of the editorial team.)

I don’t know if I can do it. After all, I’ve never done this before.

But I’ll try to be a good boss.

And I’ll still be the same Ulli.
