It has been two weeks since Brandenburg was forced to close daycare centers and schools due to high COVID-19 infection rates. Starting this week, emergency child care has been expanded to include children whose parents have only one parent working in the health care or nursing sectors. But as we’ve learned, anyone who isn’t “essential” has to fend for themselves. Suddenly, this is once again the parents’ responsibility. Our reporter Ulrike Nagel offers insights into the turbulent daily life of families.

Following a complicated rescue operation at a factory building in the Spreewerk Lübben industrial park—which was severely damaged by an explosion on Friday, March 16, 2018—a deceased male was recovered from the rubble this afternoon around 5:a deceased man was recovered from the rubble. It appears likely that the deceased could be the 55-year-old missing employee of the company. However, immediate and definitive identification is not yet possible due to the severity of the injuries sustained.
